2016 has been a pretty great year for Nigerian music in terms of quality, growth and worldwide visibility – thanks to the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Yemi Alade, Tekno and Ayo Jay.
With the year coming to an end, Google has released their list of the top 10 most searched Nigerian songs of 2016 – and every single one of them is a JAM!
Kiss Daniel and Olamide dominated the list, claiming two spots each – with Kiss Daniel’s “Mama” unexpectedly taking the number one spot from the song of the year, Tekno’s “Pana”.
There is also a shocking absence of women on the list, especially with powerhouses like Yemi Alade, Simi, Seyi Shay and Tiwa Savage all dropping veritable bangers this year.
Anyway, here are the top 10 most searched Nigerian songs of 2016:
1. Kiss Daniel – “Mama”
2. Tekno – “Pana”
3. Kiss Daniel – “Jombo”
4. Olamide – “Who U Epp”
5. Lil Kesh – “Ishe”
